Started back in 2009 when Marcus Pyroval and Elena Quinthos met at a construction site arguing about the proper way to orient a window. Turns out they were both right, just seeing it from different angles. That's kinda been our thing ever since.
We're not your typical suits-and-blueprints firm. Yeah, we do the technical stuff really well, but we also believe that architecture shouldn't feel cold or intimidating. Buildings are where life happens - they should reflect that warmth.
Our team's grown to fifteen people now, each bringing their own weird quirks and talents. We've got folks who geek out over load-bearing calculations and others who can't stop sketching concepts on napkins during lunch. It's a good mix.
Operating from Toronto, we've worked on everything from cozy residential renovations to massive commercial developments across Canada. Every project teaches us something new, which keeps things interesting.
Look, a building can be drop-dead gorgeous, but if it doesn't work for the people using it? That's just sculpture. We start with how you actually live or work in the space, then make it beautiful around that reality.
Every site has its own personality - the light, the neighbors, the history. We spend a lot of time just hanging out at the location, feeling what it wants to be. Sounds hippy-dippy, but it works.
We're building stuff that'll be around for decades, maybe centuries. Using materials and systems that trash the planet for short-term convenience? That's just lazy architecture. There's always a better way.
The best ideas come from conversations, not lone genius moments. We involve clients, engineers, builders, even future neighbors in the process. More voices make better buildings, period.
Marcus and Elena officially partnered up, working out of a cramped office above a coffee shop. Started with small residential projects, mostly friends and family who trusted us despite having zero portfolio.
Landed a commercial renovation project in downtown Toronto that got featured in Canadian Architect magazine. Suddenly people were calling us instead of the other way around. Hired our first three employees.
Completed our first LEED Platinum building. That project changed how we thought about everything. Started making sustainability a core part of every design, not just when clients asked for it.
Moved into our current studio on Bay Street. Finally had enough space to spread out and actually see everyone's faces during meetings. Team grew to ten people.
Started specializing in historic building restoration. There's something special about giving old structures new life while respecting their history. It's like being a time traveler with a drafting table.
Fifteen team members, over 200 completed projects, and we're still just as excited about design as we were on day one. Maybe more excited, actually, because we know what we're doing now.
